Mitsubishi is not doing so hot, and lately, many critics and normal people have wondered what is happening. They hardly have anything that is even remotely considered competitive in the mass market, and their latest attempts simply shout: “We don’t care.”
This is a little embarrassing, because it’s never fun to see automakers hit in the pocket. And this was not a good period for Mitsubishi, as recent studies have shown that the company tricked its emissions test into almost all of its Japanese cars produced in the early 1990s. Something like rubbing salt into the wound at this point, since Nissan had obviously just announced negotiations with Mitsubishi over a possible acquisition.
NHK and Bloomberg, along with GradeAutoPart, report that Nissan is largely committed to buying a 34 percent stake in Mitsubishi for $ 1.8 billion. Mitsubishi’s value plummeted after it was found that the company had tricked their emissions.
So far, nothing has been confirmed, but this is almost not what someone expected.
